Ottawa Rubber Bradner Plant reunion

There will be an Ottawa Rubber Bradner Plant Reunion at noon Nov. 3 at American Table Family Restaurant, 603 Plaza Drive, Fostoria.

All former Ottawa Rubber employees and their families are encouraged to attend.

T-SPL to host Seneca County panel discussion

The Tiffin-Seneca Public Library is to host the panel discussion “What’s Happening in Seneca County?” at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 1 in the Frost Kalnow Room, 77 Jefferson St.

The discussion is part of the Foundation Speakers Series. The panel is to discuss the opiate epidemic in Seneca County, the PIVOT program and drug court and recovery resources in Seneca County.

Panelists include representatives from Firelands Regional Medical Center’s Counseling and Recovery Services, Seneca County Drug Task Force – METRICH Enforcement Unit and the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Seneca, Sandusky and Wyandot Counties.

Sam Quinones, author of “Dreamland: The True Tale of America’s Opiate Epidemic,” is to speak at 7 p.m. Nov. 8 at Tiffin University’s Marion Center.

An opiate awareness resource fair is to take place prior to his presentation at 5:30 p.m.

Book group to discuss memoir

The next discussion of the adult book group “Let’s Talk About It” will be at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 1 in the Junior Home Room of Tiffin-Seneca Public Library, 77 Jefferson St.

The group is to discuss “Stitches: A Memoir” by David Small.

Copies of the book are available at the library.

Tiffin City Schools Board of Education is to meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Tiffin Middle School, 103 Shepherd Drive.

NR finance committee to meet

NEW RIEGEL – New Riegel Schools Audit/Financial Committee is to meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the library/media center, 44 N. Perry St.

SE board to meet

ATTICA – Seneca East Board of Education is to meet at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 19 in the board office.

The board is to have a hearing on rehiring Laura Brickner as treasurer after her Dec. 31 retirement.

Retired teachers to meet this week

UPPER SANDUSKY – Wyandot County Retired Teachers Association is to meet at noon Tuesday at Trinity Evangelical Church.

Fostoria art club hosts fundraiser

FOSTORIA – The annual Empty Bowls Project, hosted by Fostoria Junior/Senior High School Art Club, is 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday.

There are to soups, chili and bread served. Bread and water have been donated from three local vendors.

Proceeds are to benefit the Fostoria Sharing Kitchen and Pantry Plus of Seneca County.

Mohawk students inducted into honor society

SYCAMORE – Nineteen students from Mohawk Junior High School were inducted as members of the National Junior Honor Society Oct. 3.

Members of the chapter are selected by a faculty council based on criteria including citizenship, leadership, service and character – along with grade point average.

Students inducted were Ryan Bogner, Owen Chevalier, Madelyn Crum, Peyton Edgington, Cassidy Frankart, Mia Gillig, Bryce Hannam, Brooklen Helton, Julia Kingseed, Emily Klopp, Jace Margraf, Kael Margraf, Kinzie Mathias, Alexandra Schock, Emily Sheward, Josephine Smith, Electra VanBeveren, Lacie Wagner and Elena Zamora.

Terra State board to meet Wednesday

FREMONT – Terra State Board of Trustees is to meet at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the board room, Building B, 2830 Napoleon Road.

TU honors alumni

Tiffin University Alumni Achievement and Young Alumni Achievement awards were presented Oct. 5 during the annual Dragon Alumni Symposium.

More than 40 alumni from all career fields shared their career and expert advice with current students.

Awards presented included: Dean Johnston, class of 1969, Alumni Achievement Award; Samantha Molnar, class of 2014, Young Alumni Achievement Award.

UF students participate in White Coat Ceremony

FINDLAY – The University of Findlay’s College of Pharmacy hosted its White Coat Ceremony, which signifies a student’s entrance into the third year of the six-year program.

Students from the area honored include Brook Diekman of Kansas; Maria Faber of Fostoria; and Mercedes Snyder of Tiffin.

Terra State to host two Olympians

FREMONT – Terra State Community College is to host two former Olympians – Sebastian Keitel and Liston Bochettee – at 11:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. Wednesday in the Neeley Center.

They are to speak about their Olympic experiences and values of respect, friendship and excellence.

Keitel is a sprinter who represented Chili in the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia, and Bochettee participated in five Olympic Games in bobsled.

Terra State to host alumni, friends picnic

FREMONT – Terra State Community College is to celebrate it’s 50th anniversary by hosting its annual picnic and musical concert 1-3 p.m. Oct. 28.

The picnic is to take place in the atrium of the General Technologies Building and will feature food from the Tree Tops Cafe. Tours of the campus and labs will also be available.

The Terra Fusion Ensemble is to perform at 2 p.m. The music department’s fall concert is to take place at 3 p.m.
