T-shirt sale to aid Tiffin firefighter

Tiffin Firefighters Local 322 is selling T-shirts to benefit crew member Sean Tyler, who has been diagnosed with liver cancer.

Firefighter/paramedic Nick Gosche of Tiffin Fire Rescue Division said shirts are being sold for $10 and are available in sizes small to XXL. Shirts can be picked up at fire station No. 1, 53 S. Monroe St., he said.

“This is important because firefighters are all brothers and sisters regardless of their location,” Gosche said. “We always have each other’s backs. We’re a big family.”

He said the front of the shirt was selected because he thinks that is part of being a family and “his fight is our fight and we will always have his back.” The quote selected for the back of the shirt works on two levels because it relates to what Tyler is personally going through as well as to what firefighters go through in general, Gosche said.

He said the proceeds from this year’s Sportsman’s Raffle are going to Tyler and his family and the T-shirt sale was created as a way to try and raise more funds. The Sportsman’s Raffle is 6-10 p.m. March 9 at Camden Falls, 2460 SR 231.

Gosche said another batch of T-shirts will be coming in early next week and one last order of T-shirts will be placed after the Sportsman’s Raffle.

T-shirts can be purchased and picked up at fire station No. 1 during normal office hours, he said.

Gosche said if people aren’t interested in the Sportsman’s Raffle or getting a T-shirt, they are always accepting donations for Sean. Donations can be dropped off at the fire station and checks should be made out to Sean Tyler and labeled “donation,” he said.
