Three thrown from truck bed Friday
CAREY — Three people were thrown from the bed of a truck on CR 59 Friday night.
According to a release from State Highway Patrol, Aaron J. Luzader, 41, of Carey, was driving a 2011 Ford F150, and the truck pulled from a driveway heading west on CR 59. The passenger in the truck cab was Marisa A. Heldman, 20, of Fostoria.
Luzader accelerated down the road and caused three people riding in the truck bed to be thrown, the release states.
Anthony R. Luzader, 47, of Carey, died at the scene, and Nathanyal E. Griffin, 22, of Carey, was taken by Life Flight to Mercy Health – St. Vincent Medical Center, according to the release.
Griffin’s injuries were serious, according to State Highway Patrol.
Cody J. Luzader, 19, of Carey, who also was thrown from the truck, and Austin D. Hossler, 21, of Fostoria, who also was in the bed of the truck, was not hurt.
The release states alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in the accident, and charges were pending Saturday. It was unknown whether the cab occupants were wearing seatbelts, it states.
Personnel from NBS EMS District, NBS Joint Fire District, Bascom EMS, the county’s Echo unit, Seneca County Sheriff’s Office and Seneca County Coroner’s Office assisted. The accident was reported at 8:30 p.m.
