Boyd Gurney, 90, of Findlay and a former Richmond, Virginia, resident, passed away Friday, April 20, 2018, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.
He was born Dec. 7, 1927, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to the late Bert and Evelyn B. (Thorpe) Gurney. He married Marlene Kagy July 29, 1987, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and she survives in Findlay.
Other survivors include, a daughter, Kristin D. Gurney of Altadena, California; a son, Jeffrey (Sylvia) Gurney of Tampa, Florida; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Brad Gurney; and a brother, Philip Gurney.
Boyd was a World War II Army veteran, serving at Camp Pusan, Korea, with the occupational army. He was a 1946 graduate of Council Bluffs High School and a graduate of Iowa State University. He was a marketing manager for most of his professional career with ITT Corporation in the industrial control division, and he retired in 1987. He was a former member of Providence United Methodist Church, Richmond, Virginia.
A graveside service for Mr. Gurney will be announced at a later date, and burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery at the corner of CR 6 and CR 43, southwest of Bloomville.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
