Rosa L. Tyree, 88, of Tiffin, passed away at 7:25 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay.

Rosa was born Oct. 26, 1930, to James and Ida (Stallard) Banks of Whitesburg, Kentucky.

Rosa is survived by four siblings, Billy (Irene) Banks of Whitesburg, Kentucky, Elizabeth Bolling of Florence, Kentucky, Charles Banks of Whitesburg, Kentucky, and Josephine Banks of Whitesburg, Kentucky; her dear friends, Diane Ross and Paula Bird; her five children, Elizabeth Cox of Tiffin, Stephen (Deborah) Tyree of Carey, Kenneth (Diana) Tyree of Republic, Jeffrey Tyree of Tiffin and Vickie Kiesel of Tiffin; along with 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, all of whom gave her immense joy to care for up until her final days.

Rosa was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ida Banks, and six siblings, James Banks of Whitesburg, Kentucky, Elsie Aouate of Canton, Michigan, Harlan Clay of Morehead, Kentucky, Jackson Banks of Whitesburg, Kentucky, and two infant siblings, Challis Banks and Melissa Faye Banks.

She touched the lives of many throughout her time as a teacher and during her career caring for patients at the Tiffin State Hospital, from which she retired. Her favorite job, however, was raising and caring for her children and grandchildren, for whom her life’s greatest goal was demonstrating the love of Christ.

Visitation for family and friends will take place 10 a.m. until the time of the service Monday, May 20, 2019, at Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin.

The funeral for Rosa will begin at noon Monday at the funeral home, with Elder Joe Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmont cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
