Looking forward to 2019

Christmas is almost here, and for many of us, that’s a sign that it’s time to begin thinking about the New Year.

At Tiffin-Seneca Public Library, we have had 2019 on our minds for some time now. So, as we bring 2018 to a close, I would like to offer you a glimpse of what we’re excited about.

If you have driven by the library in the past few months, you know there is a lot of construction going on adjacent to us. Those projects will wind down in 2019, and we’re excited to see the park at East Green open up. We’re also excited about parking.

A new parking lot will open for library patrons in 2019. It will be oriented parallel to our building along the Court Street alley, so if you need a visualization, just imagine the old parking lot has been rotated 90 degrees. Access will be available from Jefferson Street and Perry Street, via the main parking lot. Because it will stretch the length of the library building, this lot will provide easy access to both sets of library doors. It also will be wider than our old parking lot and feature four more handicap parking spaces–two for each entrance.

Having that lot available will be a great asset because the TSPL staff also is excited about programs in 2019. Our annual Community Read programming series will be here before you know it, followed late in the year by our Foundation Speaker event.

Starting in June, we’ve laid some really fun plans for our annual Summer Reading Program. This year’s theme is “space,” and staff members have been busily planning games, activities and programs for all ages. And, just about the time you are winding down your summer vacation, we will begin thinking of winter and planning next year’s Operation Elf.

Of course, staff members also are preparing our normal slate of book discussions, story times and teen events.

Finally, we’re excited about Tiffin and we’re excited about serving you. TSPL takes on all these projects because we’re passionate about our patrons and about doing our part to make this community a destination of choice for individuals, businesses and other organizations. We think you deserve a great library, and it will be a privilege to spend 2019 — and beyond — making that happen.
