FOOTBALL: Seneca East coach Ed Phillips and Ohio Dominican commit Blaine Swartzmiller both participated in the North-South game in Massillon this past weekend. Phillips coached the North team, while Swartzmiller was named the defensive player of the game with four sacks. He also had two tackles for loss and recorded nine total tackles as the North won 27-25 when the defense blocked a field goal attempt as time expired.

ATTICA RACEWAY: Heavy rains throughout the week with no drying time has forced Attica Raceway officials to cancel racing on the Adkins Group/AmeriGas/Craig Miller Trucking Night Friday. Attica Raceway Park will host the American Ethanol Late Model Series May 10 on Stillwater Metal/Bazell Fuel Night. The late model feature winner will take home $4,000. The Fremont Fence 305 Sprints will battle for $1,000 to win and the dirt trucks also will be in action. Gates open at 5 p.m. with racing underway at 7:45 p.m.

YOUTH BASKETBALL: The fifth annual Hopewell-Loudon basketball camp is May 29-31 at the high school in both gyms. The camps is for boys grades 1-7, running 8:30-11:30 a.m. Cost is $30 for grades 1-7. Registration forms are available at school, via coaches or on the school basketball website. Return the registration and payment by either May 3 or by May 6 if possible to guarantee camp orders (T-shirt/etc.) are on time. Late registrations will be accepted on site, but camp gifts may be late or unavailable. Coach Roger Jury and members of the Chieftain basketball staff will conduct the camp. Present players and alumni may be available to assist. Athletes in upper grades will spend a portion of the camp practicing team concepts and fundamentals for summer league, possible shoot-outs, team camps, etc.

n The 2019 Par Tee League, sponsored by Phat Cakes, starts Tuesday at Clinton Heights. The league lasts 18 weeks and will be played in three seasons.
