Anderson races to Ice Breaker crown
UPPER SANDUSKY — Columbian’s Jacob Anderson won the boys race Tuesday to top area efforts at the Upper Sandusky Ice Breaker Invitational.
Anderson crossed the line in 17:00.81 to help the Tornadoes upend Carey 131-164 for fourth in the 16-team field.
Bay edged Mount Gilead 46-48 for the team title. The host Rams ended ninth (244) and Fostoria finished 15th (373).
Caden Groves backed Anderson by running 12th (17:58.24) for Columbian.
Carey’s Tyler Leist (18:25.21) and Joe Oren (18:31.96) claimed 16th and 17th.
Troy Mawer sparked Upper Sandusky by taking 36th (19:22.78) and Emery Paul took 54th (20:01.31).
Fostoria’s Dylan Sheets captured 15th (18:20.19) and Justin Jordan came in 107th (21:18.53).
Ram girls take fifth in own invite
UPPER SANDUSKY — Two Upper Sandusky runners finished in the top 20 Tuesday to help the Rams edge Kenton 154-155 for fifth in the Upper Sandusky Ice Breaker Invitational.
Notre Dame Academy clipped Mount Gilead 51-52 for the team championship.
Columbian took eighth (180), Carey came in ninth (204) and Fostoria ended 12th (354).
Madelyn Shasteen’s ninth (21:30.87) for Upper Sandusky topped all area runners. Teammate Adriane Weininger took 18th (22:00.19).
Hailey Cortez ran 18th (21:52.46) for Columbian and Anna Fletcher came in 31st (23:12.03).
Carey got a 13th from Destiny DeFeo (21:47.34) and a 41st from Keely Wentz (24:02.15).
Fostoria’s Macey Sheets (26:16.92) and Cashara Durst (26:18.7) ended 79th and 80th.
1-2 punch fuels Raiders against Gibsonburg
GIBSONBURG – Two Lakota golfers broke 40 Tuesday as the Raiders cruised past Calvert 159-173 at Sycamore Hills.
Kyleigh Dull fired a 36 and Nathan Walter shot a 38 for the Raiders. Colt Dible added a 40 and Connor Hill turned in a 45.
The Senecas got a 40 from Jackson Cook, twin 43s from Dom Mangiola and Maddy Brown, and 47s from Brayden Thomas and Jacob Kin.

CLYDE — Savannah Miller and Jordy Roberts both scored three goals Tuesday as Clyde steamrolled Toledo Start 9-0.
Sam Alexander added two goals and Hayley Robinett also scored for the Fliers.
Alexander and Roberts both provided two assists for Clyde and Miller and Sidney Hohman both had one.
Clyde’s defense held Start to two shots on goal, with M.J. Overmyer registering a save.
Fliers cruise past Old Fort
CLYDE — Kyle Baker scored in the first minute and Brock Newsome tallied a hat trick in the first half Tuesday as Clyde blanked Old Fort 9-0.
Baker added another goal, Seth Hohman scored twice and Alvero Fernandez and Lukas Cziesla both added a goal for the Fliers.
Newsome and Hohman each chipped in two assists and Baker and Jacob Kern both had one.
Jared Norman registered four saves.
St. Peter’s slips past Rams
UPPER SANDUSKY — Mansfield St. Peter’s scored late in each half Tuesday to slip past Upper Sandusky 2-1.
The Spartans (1-1) snapped a scoreless tie on Sophie Tridico’s unassisted goal with 2:45 left in the first half.
Lucia Rice snapped another tie by finding the net for St. Peter’s with 2:06 to go in the second half on another unassisted score.
The Rams (1-1) got their goal on Megan Hensel’s unassisted score with 24:23 left in the second half.
Mackenzie Hendrickson tallied five saves for the Spartans, and Cortni Brown had two for Upper Sandusky.
