Bucks take N10 showdown
SYCAMORE — Jenna Karl smashed 15 kills and tallied 12 digs, and Buckeye Central held on to beat Mohawk 25-18, 25-19, 25-10 in a season-opening matchup of Northern 10 Athletic Conference powers.
Addie Ackerman had 39 assists and nine digs for the Bucks, while Emily Stump had 11 kills. Ally Sostakowski added five kills, Lexi Evak had eight kills and Bailey Agin added 10 digs.
For the Warriors, Destini Oler had 15 kills, 10 digs and three blocks. Madi Chester had 15 kills, 10 digs and two blocks and Alexa Konkle chipped in 41 assists, 18 digs and two aces.
Emma Myers-Huffman added nine kills for Mohawk, while Kaylee Ward tallied 12 kills and 10 digs. Aubrey Margraf had 13 digs and two aces. Jordyn Lease had four assists and six digs for the Warriors, while Ellie Shaw had 15 digs.
“We looked very good at times tonight,” Mohawk coach Eric Hoover said. “I was happy with our defense and we got a lot of very good swings on the ball. We’re just fighting for more consistency.”
Carey cruises in N10 opener
NORTH ROBINSON — Hannah Zimmerman had 13 kills and 12 digs, and Carey cruised to a sweep of Northern 10 Athletic Conference foe Colonel Crawford.
The Blue Devils beat the Eagles 25-23, 25-18, 25-20.
Also for Carey (2-0, 1-0 N10), Sydney Kin and McKenzie Rowe lined 10 kills each. Row added 15 digs, while Dana Worst had 12. Kin added five blocks, while Row had four. Lawyer Stansberry served four aces and dished out 27 assists.
Tigers earn first win
MORRAL — Seneca East beat Ridgedale 25-21, 25-16, 25-10 Tuesday to earn its first win of the year.
Ally Bridgford tallied seven aces and seven digs for the Tigers (1-2) and Aubrey Saylors (2 aces, 2 blocks) added 10 digs and six kills.
Lauren Bogner backed them with nine digs, Bonnie Bivens lined seven kills and three blocks and Alison Drown slammed four kills.
Clyde has too many weapons for OF
CLYDE — Grace Ball had a double-double and two teammates came close Tuesday as Clyde upended Old Fort 25-21, 25-21, 25-22 in its season-opener.
Ball tossed up 20 assists and had 11 digs for the Fliers. Maddie Greenslade added 10 kills and eight digs, and Alicia Carter-Koonce chipped in eight kills, eight digs and five solo blocks.
Sidnee Krieger-Helms backed them with 16 digs, Jackie Smith had 15 digs and six kills, Ruby Schabel lined six kills and Maddy Andecover had six digs and five kills.
Madison Guth dished out 27 assists for Old Fort and Jenna Clouse had 11 digs and four kills.
Morgan Miller had a team-best 10 kills for the Stockaders, Kiely Taylor added seven kills and seven digs, Savannah McCoy had six kills, and Jordan Reineck had five digs.
Rockets roll against NR
NEW RIEGEL — Oak Harbor withstood a tight first two games, and downed New Riegel 25-21, 25-22, 25-12.
The Blue Jackets were paced by Brianna Gillig’s 21 kills and 13 digs. Emily Peters added seven kills, Christen Hohman had 16 digs, and Lindsay Bouillon had 17 digs. The Blue Jackets’ Madalyn Reinhart had 15 digs, while Lindsay Bouillon dished out 26 assists.
Lakota falls in three
Despite Faith Biddle’s 13 digs, Holgate was able to get past Lakota, 25-19, 25-14, 25-15.
Madison King had five kills and 11 digs for the Raiders, while Qiara Palos dished out a team-high 10 assists.
