Senecas show strong effort at Norwalk Invite

NORWALK — Calvert topped host Norwalk to get started Saturday and ended third at the Norwalk Invite.

The Senecas beat Norwalk 25-17, 25-19 and Lexington 25-15, 25-14 to get third place. Division II Holy Name downed the Senecas 25-12, 17-25, 25-12.

Lexie White collected three aces, nine kills and 33 digs for the Senecas.

Ashlynn Jones tallied three aces, 10 kills and 17 digs, Emma White added six kills and 30 assists, Sophie Burtis had 28 assists and a pair of aces and Zoe Meyer had 13 blocks and 10 kills. Sydney Johnson made 12 digs, while Shelby Hemminger made seven and Kate Rombach ended with six kills.

Redmen win own tournament

as Settles and Thomas excel

FOSTORIA — Tyriana Settles tallied 53 kills, three aces and 26 digs for Fostoria as the Redmen went 3-0 Saturday to win the Fostoria Volleyball Tournament.

FHS beat Fremont St. Joe 25-10, 25-22, topped McComb 25-17, 26-24 and defeated Sylvania Southview 25-19, 25-18 for the title.

Backing Settles was Dakota Thomas with 75 assists and 10 digs for the Redmen (7-0). Mary Harris had 20 kills, 31 digs and a pair of blocks, Baleigh Robinson added nine kills, 15 digs and nine aces, Meredith Grine recorded 13 digs and two aces, Zoe Rice had 15 digs and an ace, Jasmine Groves smacked three blocks and Dashani Taylor smashed a pair of kills.

Buckeye Central goes 0-3 at

St. Henry despite Weithman’s efforts

ST. HENRY — Despite 11 kills, 26 assists and seven digs from Allison Weithman, Buckeye Central lost all three matches at the St. Henry Tournament Saturday.

Fort Recovery beat the Bucks 25-20, 27-25, while St. Henry won 25-9, 25-7 and Russia won 25-16, 25-15.

Lydia Ackerman added 30 digs for the Bucks, while Kendra Ackerman made 15 digs, Parker Phenicie had nine digs, Lexi Evak smacked four kills and Allyson Sostakowski slammed three kills.
